I finally made it to the recently opened Museum Macan, a privately funded contemporary art museum owned by property developer Haryanto Adikoesoemo. It features a great mix of Indonesian and foreign artists, some of which I did not expect to see exhibited in Jakarta (Jeff Koons, Rothko, Murakami…).
I went alone on my first visit but I really want to come back with the kids. There are few pieces that I’m sure they will enjoy, like the EC Flag Ant Farm (which contains real live ants), and of course the Infinity Mirror Room. The museum welcomes family and has a dedicated space for children, where little ones are invited to create their own artwork.
Opens everyday from 10 am – 7 pm, Closes every Monday
AKR Tower Level MM, Jalan Panjang No. 5 Kebon Jeruk, Jakarta Barat 11530
Rp50,000/Adult, Rp30,000/child, and the Museum also offers family memberships giving access to exclusive programs/events.
